I met a group in New Braunfels for lite snacks and to visit the downtown area. We decided to visit Krause's for some beverages and appetizers. I arrived around 5pm on 5/24 and was lucky enough to find parking next to the restaurant. Note there are approximately 30-40 spaces, that are covered, for Krause's customers. If you do not find parking here. You are probably relegated to locating a spot on the street or in a pay for parking lot nearby. We decided to sit outside under the patio. Area. Unfortunately, it was quite warm in Texas on this day, as it was around a 100. Luckily, they have oscillating fans blowing to kind of cool off the customers. There was also a live band scheduled to play from 6 to 9 pm. I thought they were quite good. They played a lot of late 50s, and 60s, 70s and 80s music. The band name was The Court Jesters. Our server, Ryan, was very attentive and always checking on us. He was very good about refilling our waters. After getting a chance to talk with everybody we order drinks. They have quite an assortment of beers on tap and bottled and also have a variety of other drinks, including non-alcoholic beverages. We later ordered appetizers and/or dinners and ate as we listen to the music. Other than it was being very hot and humid, typical for late May in south Texas. We really enjoyed the venue. The staff was fantastic as far as the service, and the band was really good. The parking is the only roll the dice and like I said, we were lucky enough to find a spot. We tried an assortment of meals or snacks - everything from Chicken Tenders to Chicken Fried steak to some salads and poppers. I didn't hear anybody say any bad about any of the food. I hope that if you visit your experiences as good as mine. Krause's, it seems is a very, very good place to visit for those either living in the area or visiting the area.

Friends suggested we eat here while in the area and let me tell you, it is worth every penny. Fantastic selection of German and US beers, a fun mix of classic German foods with some Texas twists. Everything we had on the table was wonderful. Our waitress knew everything about the food and drinks menus and had perfect suggestions. I would go here for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

While visiting New Braunfels, we went to Krause’s Cafe based on a recommendation from the front desk worker at our hotel. This is a pretty typical German restaurant with an outdoor biergarten. We stopped on a Sunday for dinner and although the place was busy, we were seated right away. There is seating outside in the biergarten where they had live music or seating inside in the cafe. We chose to sit in the cafe. Our server, Beatrix, was great! She had a great personality and greeted us with a smile. She went over the menu with us, and when I told her that my wife was not a big fan of German food, she told my wife that it’s fine, she gets credit for being in a German restaurant and they have plenty of American type food for her to choose from. Very friendly, very attentive, great service! I got the Krause’s Reuben with German potato salad. This was a great Reuben sandwich; one of the best that I’ve had. From the corned beef to the sauerkraut, thousand island, and Swiss cheese, the sandwich was perfectly proportioned. And the marble rye bread was great! I really liked the German potato salad also. I convinced my wife to try the schnitzel, and she ordered the Jager Schnitzel, which comes with mushroom sauce. She got the seasonal vegetables and roasted Yukon potatoes as her sides. This was a big plate of food. To be fair, she gave it a good try, but she just didn’t care for the mushroom sauce (maybe should have gone with the Wiener Schnitzel). Beatrix was totally understanding and offered to exchange it for anything else on the menu. She told us her goal was to make sure we enjoyed our food. My wife got a Reuben sandwich to replace her schnitzel. If we are back in the New Braunfels area, we’ll definitely come back to Krause’s Cafe. If you love German food, this is the place for you. And if you don’t love German food, they have plenty of other options on the menu to choose from. The prices were reasonable, the service was awesome, and they have an amazing selection of beer! What more could you ask for!

Lederhosen Junkies played there last week. Was in attendance with my Tuba playing son. A couple of cold beers and some good music and oh yeah a sausage platter. We had fun.

I’m a local Veteran Realtor here in San Antonio and I love checking out new places to eat after a closing. I noticed this place near the title office and decided to venture on over and sure glad I did! The atmosphere was very chill, the service was great, and the food was awesome! I will definitely be eating here again!

What a great German restaurant and bierhaus!! We came for lunch and enjoyed outstanding service (Thank you, Edgar). The food came out fast and was delicious. We had the Monday special, chicken salad on mixed greens with crostini and seeded crackers. It also included a choice of soup or salad. The potato soup was fabulous. The sausage plate came with two pieces of sausage, roasted potatoes, red cabbage and sauerkraut. The spinach salad with hot bacon dressing, chopped pecans, cheese crumbles, sliced apple and sliced boiled egg was fresh and also delicious.

What a fun spot! We came here several years ago and we were excited to return. Huge beer selection, appetizers, live music, helpful staff, dog friendly patio and great swag! What’s not to love! We had the lunch IPA and the Meanwhile Tender IPA, both amazing (the color of the MT is better but the flavor of the lunch is standout). My husband had the wings and they were some of the best we’ve ever had, not greasy at all. I had the pretzel, I didn’t love the mustard sauce, it was too gritty for me (think more mustard seeds than actual mustard) but the queso was very good. It’s also nice that the pretzel comes in two sizes, pictured is a small.
